The signature horn sounds again and this time for the men’s championship. Sheffield Wednesday have signed Iké Ugbo on loan from Troyes.

The striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Cardiff City.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently 22nd in the Championship.

A worrying story here:

I have a rumor that will make Chelsea fans very happy, Sam Kerr has reportedly extended his contract until at least 2025.

The Australian captain, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury, signed for Chelsea in 2019 and has since won four consecutive Women’s Super League titles and the Golden Boot twice.

Her contract with the club ends this summer but according to Ata Football, she is staying put.

Great news from Manchester City:

“He (Eric Dier) was a pillar of the early Poch years and a great deal for the price we got it for,” Robin emails. “His flexibility was also his downfall – his best position obviously being CB, but he desperately wanted to become DM. He’s been too slow in recent years (and associated managerial systems) but a wonderful servant to the club.

“Munich is a wonderful decision for all parties. He’s reunited with his golf buddy Kane, a slower league and a better system in which he can thrive – and he’ll no doubt be fluent in German by Easter.

I must first commend the brilliant play on words in the subject line of your email Robin – “an en-dier-ly good decision”. 10/10, no rating on this.

Dier’s decision also seems to be the best for all parties, you are right. Things just aren’t working out for him at Spurs at the moment, but time will tell if this move works out for him.

Beep! This is the sound of the new signature horn and this comes from women’s football since Bayern Munich has recruited Japanese international Momoko Tanikawa. The 18-year-old was immediately loaned to Rosengård for the remainder of the season.

Francisco De Sá Fardilha, Technical Director of FC Bayern Women, said: “Momoko Tanikawa is one of the best young players in the world. She is already an integral part of the Japanese national team, one of the best teams in the world. Momoko is technically very versatile, is bipedal.

“She knows how to win against the best players and is very flexible in her position. Although she is an attacking midfielder, she can play in any position up front, including as a center forward.

Former England player Wayne Rooney has sent his love to Sven-Goran Eriksson after the former England boss revealed he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Rooney wrote on X: “Sad news this morning. Our thoughts are with Sven Goran-Eriksson and his family. A brilliant coach and a special person. Loved and respected by all. We are all with you Sven, keep fighting.

If you missed this morning’s story, you can read it here:

Here’s a good article to get your teeth into on a Thursday morning:

William emailed and said: “Surely it’s Haaland to Madrid for £X million, then Mbappé to City for free with a signing fee of £X million?”

Now this would be a turning point for the books. Although it would be fun, I don’t know if I see Mbappé in the Premier League.

Who are the best female footballers in the world? We have an article counting down the top 100, chosen by a wide range of people in the sport, and today’s edition takes the list up to number 11. I thought Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw would be higher on the list, she had great form at Manchester City and helped Jamaica reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Anyway, take a look at the list here:

Do you want all the main rumors in one place so you can digest them easily? Well, we have just what you need, read the rumor mill:

Eric Dier’s transfer to Bayern is the subject of rumors over the past week and a move away from Tottenham is unsurprising. He has had fewer minutes since Ange Postecoglou took over and the England international will want to play, especially if he wants to challenge for a place at the Euros this summer.

Tuchel confirmed that Dier was in Munich, probably for a medical, so the news could be confirmed later today. More updates I will let you know.

Is this a good decision for Dier? I think so, but let me know what you think.

Tuchel: Dier is Munich

Some latest news for you, Eric Dier’s move to Bayern Munich is almost complete, according to manager Thomas Tuchel.

“From experience, we know that things can go wrong in the last seconds,” he said. “He is Munich and we are trying to finalize the deal and find another alternative in defensive position in our team. But I would like to wait before the ink dries. You’re right, he’s in town.

“I think he is more or less a specialist in the central defensive role. He has played as a midfielder in the past. He can play as part of a four and a three at the back so we can free up Goretzka in midfield so he doesn’t have to switch between playing as a number 8 and being deeper .

“We are still focusing on other positions and we will see if anything else happens.”

Jadon Sancho’s loan to Borussia Dortmund of Manchester United, it feels like it has been in the works for months, but it is understood that the only thing left to do is announce the move. Sancho had a disappointing transfer to United and fell out of favor under Erik ten Hag.

A return to Dortmund could start a revival in his form. For all the details, read the story:

Women’s football news is Wales manager Gemma Grainger who is leaving her post to take charge of the Norway national team.

She spent three years in charge of Wales, but is leaving the country with immediate effect to take up her new role.

“I had no intention of leaving Cymru, but I was offered an unexpected opportunity that I couldn’t refuse and it was extremely difficult for me to get to this point. I hope you know that the “The decision to leave was not taken lightly,” she said.

“I truly believe this team is ready to take the next steps and qualify. I am confident that the team can continue to build and grow from now on. Cymru will always have a place in my heart, diolch am bopeth (Thank you for everything).” Read the full story:

“Mbappé will just continue to sign one-year contract extensions at PSG,” says Kevin Wilson. “I don’t think he will ever leave, and the move to Real is just the biggest tease when it comes to transfers.”

But Kevin, it’s all drama, I love it. Was this a reference to Gavin and Stacey so early in the morning? Absolutely. I may have done it again this week. But I think Mbappé will eventually leave and Real Madrid is one of the only clubs I can see him playing for.

Tottenham have confirmed the loan of Timo Werner but Ange Postecoglou’s transfer window is not over there, according to the Independent.

They are in the market for a number eight and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is at the top of their wishlist. Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has remained relatively tight-lipped on whether the England international will stay or go, but has been full of praise for his player.

Asked if he had spoken to Gallagher about the transfer rumours, the manager replied: “If you want to ask me if I spoke with Conor about this situation, yes. Like all players, when a rumor comes up, it’s always good to have a good chat with the player, like Ian Maatsen, or with other players like this, Andrey Santos.

“I think it’s always important for us coaches to have very clear, very direct and honest conversations with the players. It’s healthy to have those types of relationships.

“Doesn’t Erling Haaland have 175 million euros the exit fees which come into force this summer? Dara O’Reilly sends emails. “Which is still WAY TOO MUCH MONEY, but in this crazy environment it’s something you think Real Madrid might look at and think ‘fair enough’.”

Morning Dara, Spanish outlet AS reports that Haaland has a two-tier release case that comes into effect this summer. Others, like Forbes, report that the £170m release clause relates to other Premier League clubs and so Real Madrid could buy Haaland for around £86m. I just don’t see City wanting to let him go.

Sad news to tell you, Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson says he has around a year to live after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Eriksson told Swedish radio P1: “Everyone can see that I have a disease which is not good, and everyone assumes it is cancer, and indeed it is. But I have to fight as long as possible. I know best case scenario it’s about a year, worst case scenario even less. Or in the best case scenario, I suppose, even longer. I don’t think my doctors can be completely sure, they can’t call it a day.

Eriksson managed England from 2001 to 2006 and was most recently sporting director at Swedish club Karlstad.

Haaland’s contract with Man City ends in 2027 so even if the striker was interested in a transfer, the price the club would have to pay could be huge. But Mbappé won’t come cheap unless Real Madrid sign him when he becomes a free agent this summer.

I don’t know if I see Haaland moving to Real Madrid, but who knows. Stranger things have happened!

Preamble

Hello and welcome to today’s live transfer. There are myriad rumors and speculations, but one of the biggest news is Real Madrid’s interest in Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian international is said to be on the Spanish club’s radar as they increasingly doubt Kylian Mbappé will join them from Paris Saint-Germain, according to AS. I will tell you about it soon, as well as the latest news and the main rumors.

And don’t forget to let us know your thoughts on the transfer window and anything else that comes to mind. This morning, all I can think about is the cold, I have two blankets and two pairs of socks. You can contact us by email and X – @rendellx.
