Some Championship news – Huddersfield have let manager Darren Moore leave with the club currently 21st. “We need to make this decision to give ourselves the best chance of retaining our Sky Bet Championship status at the end of the season,” club chairman Kevin Nagle said.
“Darren is a fantastic man and has worked tirelessly since he took up the role in September. I know I speak for everyone at the club in wishing him all the best for the future.
Photos of Angeliño at the airport are out. The former Manchester City left-back was pictured in Rome ahead of his loan move to Roma. His parent club is RB Leipzig, but he has been on loan to Galatasaray this season.
Lewis Miley signs long-term deal with Newcastle
Newcastle have announced that their wonderkid, 17-year-old midfielder Lewis Miley, has signed a long-term contract with the club. “I would like to acknowledge the role of the club’s academy in Lewis’s development,” Eddie Howe said. “He is a shining example of the club’s talent journey and he can hopefully inspire our younger players to follow in his footsteps.”
Van Dijk uncertain about Liverpool future
Well, here’s something. With Jürgen Klopp moving away from Anfield, a new era is dawning at Liverpool and their star centre-back has not said whether he will be part of it. Andy Hunter has the story.
About Xavi, here’s Sid Lowe on the midfield legend’s impending departure.
Let’s just go back to the announcement of Xavi’s departure from Barcelona – Mikel Arteta has been linked with the job, but Sky Sports News has reported that the Arsenal manager is going nowhere at the end of the season. Arteta, of course, came through Barcelona’s youth system at the turn of the century, but didn’t play in the first team there.
Please stop what you’re doing and watch this transfer reveal from Fenerbahce. Just a bit OTT, I think.
Soyuncu joins Fenerbahce on loan
Here’s a blast from the past (sort of): former Leicester centre-half Caglar Soyuncu has joined Fenerbahce on loan for the remainder of the season from Atlético Madrid.
In case you missed it, there were some mediocre scenes at the Hawthorns yesterday, with crowd problems casting a shadow over Wolves’ 2-0 win over West Brom. Peter Lansley was there to report on the match – and the ugly stuff.
Jürgen Klopp’s long farewell began yesterday with a victory over Norwich. Naturally, speculation will continue over who will replace him when he steps down at the end of the season, with Xabi Alonso the current favorite. With Xavi’s departure from Barcelona, some high-profile managerial changes are set to take place in the coming months – who should take the job?
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has spoken – he is surprised by the noise around Callum Wilson, indicating that the striker is not going anywhere. It also looks like they won’t make any moves without someone having to leave.
Here’s the rumor mill – let’s see what’s in it… Oooh. Joshua Kimmich to Spurs? It would be fun. Looks like Brentford are going to snag Norwegian teenager Antonio Nusa, who I’ll now have to watch closely on YouTube via ‘Welcome to Brentford | Insane Runs, Goals, Skills, Assists (HD)”.
Here are some shots from the Cup for you. By the way, what a thing to see Maidstone doing their thing. The dramatic celebrations after their first goal, still in the first half and with so much work still to do, were truly moving.
