Images of great apes have revealed that humans aren’t the only ones experiencing seemingly endless teasing from their young who seem determined to take their chances.
Recordings of chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos and gorillas have revealed that these animals were masters of this dubious art, engaging in an impressive range of playful and sometimes somewhat aggressive acts, ranging from the brazen and downright idiotic to fabulously irritating.
From 75 hours of footage taken at the San Diego and Leipzig zoos, scientists documented 142 clear cases of great apes teasing their mates, most prompted by juveniles aged three to five.
